Abe's Barbecue has been a part of the Delta since 1924, when it
was first located at 4th and Florida, Clarksdale, Mississippi. After
World War I, Abe's was moved to its present location at the famous
Crossroads of Highways 61 and 49, where it shares its fame with
the Legendary Bluesman, Robert Johnson. Many entertainers
have enjoyed the famous barbecue pork and beef, hot tamales and
ribs served at Abes. They include ZZ Top, Paul Simon, Big Jack
Johnson, Thomas Harris, Steve Azar, Charlie Pride, Conway Twitty
-- just to name a few. Many have tried to emulate the delicious
tangy barbecue sauce, but have failed in their efforts--There is only
one barbecue sauce deserving enough to be served to its loyal
Delta customers, and that is Abes. Abes has also gained fans in all
parts of the United States, where it ships its famous barbecue
sauce to new customers daily. Abes also caters parties of all sizes,
from small downhome gatherings to the largest most elegant affairs.
